The Pre-Preparatory School offers a happy atmosphere in a caring, safe and stimulating environment where we aim to help each child to realise his or her own potential. The pupils' social, emotional and cognitive abilities are promoted through a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, and pupils are exposed to a varied range of activities, including ICT, Arts and Crafts, Music, Drama and Physical Education.
We prepare children for the social and academic challenges of school life by encouraging them to develop positive attitudes and values, by nurturing their confidence and self-esteem, and by fostering an enjoyment of learning.
Our bright, vibrant classrooms and corridors lead to outside patios and playgrounds in a self-contained unit, creating a welcoming environment where each child feels at ease and ready to learn. Facilities include our own separate infirmary, lunchroom, library, assembly and sports multi-purpose room, as well as interactive whiteboards and ICT provision in all the classrooms. Moreover, by participating in whole-school events, using a range of sports facilities and performing in the School theatre, each child, from an early age, is encouraged to play an integral role in the life of the school.
Pre-Prep Learning definition:
Learning is the process of acquiring, developing and consolidating knowledge, skills or understanding. A change occurs when the ongoing process of learning is engaging, appropriate and sufficient. As educators, we need to promote learning within meaningful contexts. We should seek to create opportunities for each child to be involved in his or her own learning process by helping them make links and connections that lead them forward to the next stage in their learning. The different types of intelligence and learning styles must be acknowledged so that teachers can meet and challenge individual needs through a positive and optimum environment.
