In the Preparatory School we aim to offer our pupils a rounded educational experience with a strong emphasis on academic excellence as well as opportunities to develop and grow in all areas. We follow the Primary Strategy for Literacy and Numeracy and the National Curriculum guidelines for the Foundation Subjects. The skills of independent learning and co-operation with others are given prime importance and pupils are encouraged to develop not only knowledge and skills but also attitudes and values which help them to become world citizens. Our pupils are happy, fulfilled and achieve well in all areas, both academic and non-academic.
We have five year groups in the Prep school. Preps 1&2 are taught by class teachers, whilst teaching for Preps 3, 4&5 is subject based. We place significant emphasis on helping our pupils to become well-rounded individuals and this is achieved though our strong curricular, pastoral, sporting and musical programmes. We believe that pupils should be encouraged to be proactive in their attitude towards their learning and we aim to instill in all our pupils a love of intellectual discovery as well as an insatiable appetite for development, both on a personal level and as a part of the wider St. Paul’s community. Above all, we believe that learning should be fun!
