Dr. Jon Dicks, Assistant Head Curriculum

Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool in 1983, followed by a Doctorate in Biotechnology from Cranfield University and Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1988. He worked for many years as a research officer on several industrial and government funded projects at Cranfield University and Tokyo University, the highlight of which was working in the group that developed the first biosensor for direct detection of glucose in blood for use by diabetics. After obtaining a PGCE in Chemistry from the University of York in 1999, he taught in schools in Derby and Yorkshire in the north of England before moving to Brazil in 2004 to teach at St. Paul's. During his many years in the school teaching chemistry and science, he has also been the Head of Chemistry, Head of Science and Director of IT. He is a practicing Buddhist and passionate cyclist.
